" Thanks to its Obama story (and cover) Amazing Spider-Man #583 sold more copies in January than any full-price comic has sold in any month since ICv2 began tracking numbers in 2001:

I am proud to say that I do not own one copy of this book. I refused to buy it on principal. I stopped buying Amazing Spider Man over a year ago now, due to a story which left me dum founded by its stupidity. The book also started coming out three times a month, which was also too costly. I also stopped buying DCs weekly comic due to cost, but is digress.
This Spider Man cover was a well publicized cheap stunt. Other companies did it better previously with full issue stories. But thanks to the power of smart marketing, Sell outs. My wish was that Amazing Spider-Man #583 would of had more substance than a five page back story.
