GServo’s thoughts on DC's Batman: Battle for the Cowl.

With the arrival of issue 3 of Batman: Battle of the Cowl, I feel this $3.99 40 page issue was underwhelming at best, well the ending any way. Over all the series was decent, Better the Broke Back Batman from the 90’s. Setting up what is, most likely, a temporary Status quo for the Batman family of Comics by DC. I thought there would a little more to the Battle. To me it just seems they set up Jason Todd to be Nightwing’s Joker, and Tim to take Nightwing’s role in the Bat Family. Damien’s Magically Being Robin. It was all a bit too easy , akin to something was omitted in the story. Where is/was the Joker anyway? He should have been pissed at anyone trying to be Batman, but maybe that is a story for a later date.

For me, the entire Batman: Battle for the Cowl series would have made a better oversize Single issue/80 page giant and a Secret Files book and/or something of that nature. DC Dragged this out too long in my honest opinion, Especially the Stories end.

I have been enjoying Batman comics much more in the last couple of years. I am going to try out all the new BatBooks, give them a fair chance. If anything is repetitive or lacking in entertainment value, I will not pick them up again.

If/When they bring Bruce Wayne back, I would love to see him in the role created for him in Batman beyond, and occasionally putting on the Tengu suit he wore when he came back after Knightfall, the story line where his back was broken by bane.

In the End I like Battle of the Cow better, it was clear, and concise, a perfect read
